Can I join someone who is self-isolating halfway through their 14 day isolation period?

This is possible but before you decide to do so you need to consider the self-isolation requirement you will all have to abide by.

If Person A chooses to join Person B (who is in self-isolation), Person A will have to self-isolate for 14 days from the day they join Person B, regardless of how many days Person B has been self-isolating.

For example:

  • If Person A joins Person B on arrival, they isolate together for 14 days.
  • If Person A joins Person B on day 7 of their isolation period, Person B isolates for the remainder of their isolation period (7 days) and Person A must isolate for the full 14 days from the date they joined households.

If either Person A or Person B develops symptoms and tests positive, the self-isolation clock would start again for both.
