Lone workers can contact their usual supplier to see if they are also planning to implement a method of lone working to distribute products. If so, an arrangement could be made for supplies to be delivered, without contact and following the delivery requirements, for example. Unfortunately, this may not be possible for everyone.
The guidelines state that lone workers need to be able to work without anyone else at all, so if they require the help of multiple people to either equip themselves for the job or carry out the job, then they cannot operate at this time. Suppliers also need to be operating in a lawful way, or they cannot operate either.
The introduction of this working method is about supporting whoever can safely and logistically get back to work, but we are still in full lockdown so all other restrictions remain in place for those who can’t.
