Household Waste and Recycling

All public waste and recycling sites are open, for opening times please go to

If you have COVID or are self-isolating, you can dispose of your waste and recycling as normal as long as you can do so by continuing to adhere to self-isolation requirements.  This may require someone else to set your waste and recycling out for you (anyone handling your waste should observe hand hygiene guidance) or alternatively you may have to wait until your next collection.

Lateral flow tests kits are single use only and can be disposed of safely at home. All parts of the test kit that are plastic and any plastic packaging is not recyclable and should be disposed of in general waste.  This applies whether the test result is positive or negative. If there are any paper items such as card packaging or an instruction or information leaflet these can be recycled and should be put into your white recycling bin. It is important that all the parts of the kit are disposed of correctly.

Face coverings should be disposed of carefully in a waste bin and not in the recycling. In addition, please do not place any used tissues or paper towels in the recycling. These items cannot be recycled and can spread infections.

If anyone has any further questions they can always contact the Guernsey Waste Team during normal office hours (8:45am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday) on 01481 221234 or email
